Dragonair Passengers Offered The Option to Secure Seats with Additional Legroom
Nov. 16, 2009
Dragonair is to offer its passengers the option to secure seats with extra legroom in its Economy Class cabins by paying an additional charge. These seats were previously only open for reservation by Marco Polo Club members of a certain level and those passengers in the highest booking classes, but soon they will be open for booking in advance by all passengers who meet specific safety requirements.
From December 1, 2009, Dragonair passengers will be able to secure an extra-legroom seat on Bengaluru flights by paying US$100 or redeeming 20,000 Asia Miles per sector. From January 1, 2010, passengers can also secure these seats on flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou as well as to non-Mainland regional destinations by paying US$25 or 5,000 Asia Miles.
Seats with extra legroom are always in strong demand, and the option now being offered is in line with similar practices adopted by other major international airlines. The seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Marco Polo Club members in Silver tier and above, who are already able to reserve the extra-legroom seats, will continue to enjoy the service free of charge.
The extra-legroom seats have significantly more legroom than other seats in Dragonair's Economy Class cabins, and two or six will be available on selected flights depending on the aircraft type employed. The extra-legroom seats will initially be available for booking through the reservations hotline or when checking in at the in-town or airport check-in counters. Next year passengers will be able to secure the seats through the Dragonair website.
