Jiangxi to Invest 400 Million Yuan for Its First Local Airline

Jiangxi Airlines, the first local airline in Jiangxi province, is expected to be officially established in 4 months, with the foundation of Jiangxi Airlines Investment Co., Ltd. in Nanchang on Feb. 26, source from Commerce Department of Jiangxi Province.
With 400 million yuan initial investment, the new airline is led by provincial Commerce Department, and sponsored by Jiangxi Railway Investments Group Limited, Jiangxi Provincial Investment Group, Jiangxi Provincial Financial Investment Group and Nanchang City Tourism Investment Holding Group. After over 2 months' hard working, all the necessary preparation for build the new local airline has been completed.
Xiong Yanbin, chairman of the company said, setting up the local airline is only the first step to promote regional air transportation in the region. On this basis, a comprehensive and multivariate air transport service platform will be set up, with the construction of general aviation airports and the advantage of Jingdezhen Helicopter R & D production base.
"It is not rare to set up local airline anymore. For instance, Hefei government approved to build Hefei Airlines in 2012," an industry expert said. Currently, only did China Eastern Airlines (MU) and Xiamen Airlines set base companies in Jiangxi province; however, both of them have a few overnight aircraft. Therefore, once setting up own airline, Jiangxi Airport Group will have more base airlines and more aircraft will stay overnight at KHN, which will help it get the in the initiative to open new routes, boost the development of Jiangxi civil aviation industry, and promote local economy as well.
By the end of 2013, there are 25 carriers operating 76 routes to 52 destinations at Nanchang Changbei International Airport (KHN), increasing 8, 24 and 9 over the same period of last year, respectively.
