China Eastern Airlines (MU) has filed an application for launching an international service between Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Brisbane in East Australia from Jan. 16, 2016, according to an announcement released Thursday on the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Pending government approval, the Shanghai-based carrier will use A33E aircraft on this thrice-weekly service.

The Air Transportation Department of CAAC is soliciting public comments on the application until Sep. 7, 2015.
