A few pictures of the look of China's startup Yunnan Hongtu Airlines (A6) were leaked on Weibo Friday.
The livery of the carrier was unveiled on an Airbus A321 aircraft, with a red waistline painted on the white fuselage and its striking logo on the red tail. Hongtu means "red soil" in English.
The A321 aircraft, Registration B-8285, is now at Airbus' paint hangar and will be the first aircraft to be delivered to the Kunming-based carrier. Hongtu Airlines is expected to commence operations as early as this month.
In April 2015, Hongtu Airlines was approved by the CAAC to be set up with a registered capital of 600 million yuan, in which five of the companies will each have a 10% shareholding, Kunming Evergreen Financing will hold the largest stake (30%) with a 180 million yuan investment, while the rest 20% (120 million yuan) will be contributed by the businessman Tang Longcheng.
As the sixth airline based at Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG), Hongtu Airlines will operate domestic passenger and cargo services out of Kunming, using Airbus A320 Family aircraft, according to an announcement released by CAAC.
The airline has ordered three A320s from Airbus, with the first delivery scheduled in October.
