A traditional water salute welcomed Lufthansa (LH)'s flagship A380 when it touched down at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) on Sunday.

The A380 superjumbo is replacing the 747-8 to serve on the airline's daily Frankfurt-Hong Kong route. The A380 will provide customers with unique travel experience in terms of efficiency, luxury and flying comfort, said the airline.

LH796 departs Frankfurt at 10:15 p.m. and arrives in Hong Kong at 4:55 p.m. the following day, with the return flight LH797 leaving Hong Kong at 11:10 p.m. and landing in Frankfurt at 5:30 a.m. the next day, according to the airline.

Lufthansa's A380 features a four-class configuration with 509 seats - 8 in first class, 78 in business class, 52 in premium economy and 371 in economy, offering 20% more capacity between Hong Kong and Frankfurt from the winter schedule.
