The Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport plans to open non-stop routes to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in 2008.
Opened in 2003, Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport is located in Songpan County of Aba Zhou, Sichuan, about 88 kilometers from Jiuzhaigou and about 43 kilometers from Huanglong. The airport has currently opened non-stop routes to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Kunming and Zhangjiajie.
As one of domestic regional airports for tourism, Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport is the first airport in Aba Zhou with a total investment of 1 billion yuan. It is expected to reach the transportation capacity of 800,000 passengers by 2010. The airport has a 3,200-meter runway and parking areas for Boeing 757, 737-700 and A319.
The Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport is also the only skyway to enter Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area and Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area, both of which were listed as World Natural Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1992.
