Air Guilin, a start-up subsidiary of HNA Group, launched its inaugural flight from Guilin to Zhengzhou on June 25, 2016.
The inaugural flight GT1023, performed by an Airbus A319 painted with the beautiful landscape of Guilin, took off from Guilin Liangjiang International Airport at 9:52 a.m. and arrived at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport at 11:43 a.m.
Besides Zhengzhou, Air Guilin plans to operate domestic services to Xi'an, Yinchuan, Jinan, Yangzhou and Tianjin with three A319s. It also plans to expand its fleet to five aircraft this year and open more routes to Tianjin and Shijiazhuang.
In the coming five years, the Guilin-based airline will cover the markets in Central China, East China, South China and South-East Asia, constructing a 2-hour air transportation circle and combining air transportation with tourism to boost the two industries in the city.
In addition, the new carrier is targeting 40 aircraft and 7 million passenger volume over the next five years.
Approved by the aviation watchdog in last September, Air Guilin is a joint venture between Guilin Tourism Development Co. (60%) and HNA Group subsidiary Guilin Aviation Tourism Group (40%), with 600 million yuan in initial start-up capital.
