Cathay Pacific Moves Operations to Pudong Airport Terminal 2 in Shanghai
Apr. 22, 2008
On April 22, Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it will move its operations to the new Terminal 2 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport with effect from April 29.
The airline's daily flight between Hong Kong and Shanghai will arrive into and depart from the new facility. Cathay Pacific passengers departing from Pudong will need to use the check-in counters located in area D - the same area used by sister airline Dragonair.
From a user perspective the new terminal offers a more modern and efficient facility in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation hubs. A highlight for Cathay Pacific passengers will be the opening of a new lounge in Terminal 2, shared with Dragonair, which will set new standards for comfort and service.
At 970 square metres the Dragonair and Cathay Pacific Lounge will be the largest in either airline's network outside Hong Kong. It will be open to passengers travelling in First or Business Class on Cathay Pacific and Dragonair as well as Silver-status or above members of the Marco Polo Club.
The lounge will employ what is primarily a Cathay Pacific lounge layout, for efficiency and operational benefits, with some Dragonair influences. Key features include two food and drink venues offering a wide choice of Western and Chinese dishes that will change on a regular basis, wireless Internet access, workstations, large flat-screen TVs and specially trained lounge staff.
Check-in counters for the Cathay Pacific flight will close 40 minutes before departure as before. However, passengers are reminded to check-in as early as possible to allow sufficient time to get to their respective boarding gates in the new terminal.
