Travel Advisory: China Southern Moves to Terminal 2 at Beijing Capital International Airport
May 20, 2008
China Southern Airlines, the newest member of SkyTeam and the largest airline in the People's Republic of China, starts to move to Terminal 2 at Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) beginning at 06:00 a.m. on May 20.
It has been almost four years since China Southern Airlines began to use the Terminal 1 at Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA). However, with the boosting of the carrier's Beijing-hub strategy, the Terminal 1 hasn't been able to meet with its daily increasing passenger traffic and the carrier's rapid development.
In 2007, China Southern Airlines initiated a reengineering program to transform itself into a scaled network-oriented international airline, targeting at its three networks construction - route network, marketing & sales network, service network. In November last year, China Southern Airlines took the lead in mainland China to join the SkyTeam alliance - one of the world's largest international airline alliances.
In 2009, China Southern Airlines will accept its five Airbus A380s and base all of them in Beijing to service its Beijing-outbound international flights.
China Southern's movement to Terminal 2 will bring more quality services to its customers. China Southern Airlines will welcome passengers with an innovated and optimized passenger departure and arrival process, offering passengers seamless services and numerous customized ground services. The ground handling services at the new Terminal 2 will be divided into five areas: check-in area, boarding area, high-yield passenger service area, international area and outfield area.
After moving to Terminal 2, China Southern Airlines will be the ever first mainland carrier to fulfill same-level connections for all of its domestic flights in Beijing, providing convenient transits on the same floor for the passengers with "Single Check-in Through" and for those without checked luggage. Many self-service check-in facilities will be available at Terminal 2.
Furthermore, additional 300km incentive mileage will be given to all China Southern's Sky Pearl Club members flying the carrier's Beijing-outbound flights within three days prior to the movement with tickets priced between 40%-off and full fares as well as those new members joining China Southern Sky Pearl Club within three days after the movement with flight records ticketed at the same fare levels.
