ANA and Air China Expand Codeshare Agreement to Domestic Flights in Japan and China
Sep. 12, 2008
Star Alliance member airlines ANA and Air China will extend their code-sharing agreement to cover flights on seven new routes in China and nine in Japan, in a move that will increase the weekly total of one-way code-share flights operated under both airline codes to 532 international and 233 domestic.
From September 25, ANA customers will be able to fly from Tokyo or Osaka via Beijing to the cities of Xi'an, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Chengdu, Changchun, Kunming and Chongqing with the convenience of a single e-ticket, and under the ANA (NH) flight code.
Likewise, Air China customers will be able to fly under the Air China (CA) flight code with one e-ticket to the Japanese cities of Osaka Itami, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Toyama and Niigata via Tokyo's Narita and Haneda airports, Osaka Kansai and Nagoya.
ANA and Air China started code-sharing operations on March 28, 2004, and Air China joined Star Alliance in December 2007. Thanks to this, members of ANA Mileage Club and Air China's PhoenixMiles Frequent Flyer Programme are able to accrue and redeem mileage across the networks of both airlines, including these new code-share flights, as well as flights on all 21 Star Alliance member airlines.
