April 9 marks the 20th anniversary of the roll out of the first 777.
On April 9, 1994, the first 777, line number WA001, was rolled out of Boeing's Everett site in Washington.
The 777 ranks as one of Boeing's best-selling models. As of February 2014, 60 customers had placed orders for 1,548 aircraft of all variants. Boeing delivered the 1,000th 777 airplane to Emirates in March 2012.
In November 2013, Boeing announced the development of upgraded 777-8X and 777-9X models, collectively named 777X.
